I am not the first to say this, nor will I be the last but I’m going to tell you anyway, if you write, especially fantasy, you should have a place where you systematically keep EVERYTHING; names of every character, descriptions, a scene by scene plot of your story with all the key developments, names of towns/cities, naming conventions, language conventions (if applicable), basic maps so you know where you are and where you’re going, etc.
I call mine the Compendium of Knowledge because I like big words but you can call it your bible, your almanac, your collection of scraps of paper, as long as you have one. It takes time and effort but not as much time and effort as going back through an entire manuscript to make sure two tiny bits of information don’t cancel each other out.
So get onto it. Now! It will save you so much time in the long run and you will have a more comprehensive expression of the nonsense in your head.
Mine shall be called the Serathopedia, and shall reside in a ridiculous lime-green binder. Of power. A binder of power. ONWARD! 😀
Haha 🙂 And none shall mess with the binder of power which contains all the knowledge of the world. Best of luck! 🙂
I have so many! Yet I always seem to have to create one more…too many ideas in my head I think!
They are really, really helpful. And they look pretty 🙂
