Time is a mystery I will never understand.
So here we are, at the last WIPpet of February 2016. I thought this week, I’d give you a snippet from Sorcerer Soldier Healer King as a reward for those who checked out my interviews with the characters, and potentially as incentive for those who haven’t yet to do so. 🙂
192 words ((24*16)/2)
Maisha dressed quickly, rolling the breeches over and tying a knot at the corner of the shirt. She crept to the door and put her head against the wood. No sign of the maid returning. She tested the door handle, a smile of triumph crossing her features when it opened soundlessly. The stupid girl had left the door unlocked!
She pulled the door open, startling the guards on the other side. They snapped to attention and crossed lances, preventing Maisha’s escape. She jumped at the clash of steel on steel.
“Armil?” Maisha recognised the guard on the left.
“Let me pass,” she pleaded.
Armil exchanged an uneasy look with the other guard who Maisha didn’t know.
“I’m under orders, Maish.”
Maisha slumped against the doorframe. “Come on, Armil. This has to be some sort of joke. Just let me pass.”
Maisha let out a growl of exasperation. She could try to fight her way out but she didn’t want to fight Armil, not for real. “When I get out of here, I’m going to cut your balls off and feed them to you.”
Character interviews will of course be continuing this Saturday with the folks from Queen of Hearts. Don’t forget to let me know who you want to hear from in the comments. 🙂
