Awesome April

It’s the beginning of a new month, one week into my 23rd year on this large ball of dirt spinning around the sun, the start of ROW80 Round 2, and a few days into Camp NaNoWriMo so I’m keeping things positive. This is a new thing for me but we’ll see how we go.

I decided to do Camp NaNo on Thursday night. Yep, that’s right, just hours before it begun. The brilliant thing is that it serves to motivate me because it has one of those really cool, word-addy-uppy things and I don’t actually have to write 50,000 in a month. It’s win-win. My goal for April is 24,000 which is about 800 a day. It also fits neatly into my goals for my 100 Days of Productivity Challenge, which finishes on the 24th of this month.

I’ll be honest, I’m still not entirely sold on Camp NaNo. And part of that is to do with the graphics. I mean, seriously. The other issue is with cabins. Because this is my first time, I opted to be in a random cabin. I’ve since opted out of that cabin as, three (four, here) days in, the majority of the people in the cabin hadn’t written anything. Yes, that may seem a bit harsh but when I’m trying to motivate myself, I need to be surrounded by other people who actually challenge me a little. I’m hoping to be sorted into a more suitable cabin tonight, and next time I try, I hope to know enough people to organise a private cabin. 🙂

I’ll be posting on Wednesday about my Round 2 ROW80 goals, mostly because I haven’t sorted them yet.

But when I do…

Okay, looking back, what I wrote didn’t sound wholly positive. But I am optimistic, I promise. 🙂 I love new beginnings. I try to have at least one a month. Or a day, if it’s been particularly…fun. 😛

Good luck with Camp NaNo! I have done it a few times and sometimes it worked better than others. I considered joining this year but talked myself out of it because I really have enough to be going on with this month! (Maybe July, I’m debating not doing a course in the winter semester this year). The cabins can be pretty hit or miss, depending on who you end up with. I did have a cabin full of ROW80 peeps one year, and that was awesome!

Yeah I really think the cabins do work better if you know some of the people in it. If you end up doing Camp in July, and I’m feeling insane enough to give it another go, we can team up 🙂
