No thank you – Book’s I’ll (Probably) Never Read

So, fair warning, this got a little saltier than I’d anticipated. I just have a lot of feelings, ok? Thanks to Rachel for the tag xx

1) A really hyped book you’re not interested in reading.
A Court of Thorns and Roses. 1) It’s not really my thing to begin with and 2) I’ve come across a number of reviews which criticise the healthiness of relationships in the story. I noticed when reading the Throne of Glass series that Mass’s character relationships do tend to be quite unhealthy so I don’t see the point of reading more of that set in a story I couldn’t care less for.

2) A series you won’t start/won’t be finishing.
The Mortal Instruments series. It really just doesn’t grab me. At all. Although I did watch the first series on Netflix but I’m putting that down to SWOTVAC crazies.

3) A classic that you’re just not interested in.
Moby Dick. There are so many books I want to read and so little time in which to read them so I’m not going to waste that precious time on a self-indulgent, interminably long book about whale hunting or whatever.

4) A genre you never read.
Contemporary – YA or adult- which is about women tryna find luuve. I honestly couldn’t give a ****. It’s like watching paint dry, but paint that’s tinted with (sometimes internalised) misogyny and which reinforces the idea that without a man, a woman can’t be happy or feminine or complete. (Look, I’m sure there are some that are fine but again, I’m not going to sacrifice my reading time trying to find them)

5) A book on your shelves you’ll probably never actually read.

Beowulf. Sadly. I have a Penguin Classic copy and one in the original Old English but I doubt I’ll read either copy any time soon. Still, it looks cool on the shelf. 😛

Omg yes to all of these! Moby Dick – who has the time?! And Beowulf is another one of my ‘one day I will just to say I have’ books (hanging out with Les Mis and War and Peace over on the unrealistic expectations shelf). 😛
